Frequently Asked Questions
What size is a South Korea ID card photo?
35x45mm (3.5x4.5cm). This is the same size as the Korean passport photo, so one photo can be used for both documents.
Can I wear glasses in my Korean ID photo?
Yes, regular prescription glasses are allowed. However, tinted sunglasses are not permitted (except for those with visual disabilities), and there must be no glare or reflection on the lenses that obscures your eyes.
Do my ears need to be visible in the photo?
No. Unlike some countries, Korea does not require ears or eyebrows to be visible in ID card photos. However, your face must be clearly recognizable.
Can I use the same photo for my Korean passport and ID card?
Yes. Both the Korean passport and resident registration card (μ£Όλ―Όλ±λ‘μ¦) use the same 35x45mm photo format, so one photo works for both.
What background color is required?
A plain white or light neutral background is recommended. The background should have no patterns or shadows.
